CONSORTIA PARTNERS
Grow Your Own Illinois (GYO-IL) oversees the distribution of forgivable loans through consortia across Illinois.
Each consortium is a partnership of community groups, school districts, colleges, and universities, identified by the region it serves. A typical consortium includes the 4-year college or school of education where the licensure program is housed, a school district or districts, and a community organization, with additional partners as warranted. GYO-IL Consortia is responsible for defining the recruitment, selection, preparation, and assessment of candidates. The sites also provide support systems such as tutoring, mentoring, professional development, and job placement support. They monitor and measure the progress and success of candidates and assess the overall partnership.
